Ethical issues in social work practice will be described and discussed using a model of critical thinking to help social workers identify and avoid biased and narrow perspectives that could lead to ethical problems in social work practice. This presentation will help sensitize participants to ethical issues in social work practice and how to resolve ethical dilemmas that could arise. It also will describe processes for mitigating ethical problems and procedures used to investigate and deal with ethical complaints. The Social Work Code of Ethics will be examined, with special attention paid to areas of ethical social work practice that are particularly relevant to school social workers.
In addition, the psycho-social and cultural aspects of pain and pain management will be discussed from a perspective that is especially relevant to social work practice.

Welcome back to a new school year! You should've received a notice regarding upcoming mandatory Medicaid trainings held at the MISD PLEASE keep in mind that we have our first MASSW meeting scheduled for Friday September 23rd from 12:30 to 3:30. Please consider this when you register for the Medicaid training.
Yes, our September presentation is a 3 hour CE approved session, Developing Standards for Effective School Social Work Practice. Sue Welcome, school social worker from the Oakland Intermediate School District will facilitate the afternoon session. She will lead a discussion on the roles of school social workers, provide information on evidence-based screening tools, and spend the majority of the afternoon addressing goals and objectives of interventions.
